Ed Sheeran’s not just an excellent musician – he’s also a great dad. Recently, he revealed an adorable tradition he has with his little daughter they call “vinyl breakfasts,” which they’ve repeated every day since her birth…

It probably comes as no surprise, but singer Ed Sheeran , who has charted hits like “Shape of You” and “Perfect,” loves music. And now, he’s passing his love of music on to his daughter. For those who don’t know, Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn (seen above), welcomed newborn Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran 15 months ago. Since then, they’ve started every single day the same way…
“Me and my daughter do vinyl breakfast every single day. Over lockdown, I got super into vinyl, I know you are super into vinyl too,” Sheeran explained to Sir Elton John on his Rocket Hour show on Apple Music 1. “I basically would get up with her in the morning, I’d make her breakfast, and then we’d sit down and eat together and listen to vinyl. And is her favorite, she just loves this album. So, I think “War Pigs” is such a great way to start a record.”
Of course, little Lyra has brought much more than vinyl breakfasts into Sheeran’s life…
Much More than “Vinyl Breakfasts”
More than anything else, Lyra has taught Sheeran how to have a life outside of music. Prior to that, he focused too much on work, according to the singer himself. “I wasn’t doing anything I enjoyed because I love doing music,” Sheeran said. “And has actually given me purpose and something in life that’s actually more important than my job.”
However, while the 30-year-old certainly knows how to crank out the earworms – after all, he’s one of the world’s best-selling artists – Sheeran says that he’s still learning the ropes of fatherhood. “I think there’s so many different sides and shapes to it. There’s difficult days, there’s amazing, easy days. It’s just a roller coaster of emotions,” the singer explained. “I know that sounds like a cliche thing to say but it’s amazing. I love it.”
Still, father and daughter won’t be doing everything together just yet. You see, every year on Christmas, Ed Sheeran goes on a pub crawl with childhood friends. But little Lyra isn’t invited – at least not yet. “I’m not gonna feed her beer yet,” the singer joked. “I know we’re European, but it doesn’t start that young.”
